As with women, when men age our face begins to lose fat from our tear troughs and mid face. This means us looking a lot more tired than we feel and a lot older than our years. Couple this with the loss of collagen with age, and those little creases become permanent and skin begins to lose elasticity. Once we turn 25 we begin to lose 1% of our collagen under the skin every year and the first signs of this can be seen in our lip tissue and under the eyes. You may find that expression lines remain long after the smile has faded.
It is not unusual for men to now want to receive anti-wrinkle injections because as with women it is ageing and possibly stress that is changing your face.
Dermal fillers and anti-wrinkle treatments can be specifically used to slow this process, and drastic surgical options are no longer the only choice.
Dermal fillers are made up of a substance known as hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring product in our body. It helps to retain water thus allowing our skin to stay ‘plump’ and hydrated. Dermal filler can be used to restore that lost volume, giving back youthful curves to the face and a more refreshed appearance. They can also be used to add volume in areas which may be lacking such as the lips, chin, jawline and nose to balance out your profile.
A new product called Profhilo has come onto the market containing twice the concentration of hyaluronic acid, resulting in vastly improved elasticity and tightness. This is a very exciting new development and is available now.
Most people are well aware of the use of anti-ageing injections for the correction of wrinkles and expression lines, however this wonderful injectable has many other uses such as the correction of ‘gummy smiles’ improving the ratio of tooth and gum on show when you smile.
