Professor Mike Mulcahy BChD FFGDP (UK) FRCS (Hon) FDS MGDS RCS (Eng)
Dental Surgeon
GDC 46338
Mike has many years of professional dental care experience, having qualified from Leeds University Dental School and undertaken several hospital posts, before setting up his own, successful practice in West Sussex in 1973.
His pioneering practice became a local centre of excellence and continued to develop over the years. Several years of clinical development led to Mike being awarded the Membership in General Dental Surgery by the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
He has since expanded his interests to become a Vocational Training Adviser for new graduates in Brighton, and has taken on senior advisory roles for the London Deanery, BUPA and Denplan. Mike was appointed Dean of the Faculty of General Dental Practice of the Royal College of Surgeons in 2003, selling his practice in 2005 to focus on his academic commitments. His term of office ended in 2006 and since then Mike has maintained a small practice from home, which he now brings to Vitality.
He has been awarded further qualifications in recent years; notably the Fellowship of the Faculty of General Dental Practice, one of the highest honours bestowed to dentists in the UK. Mike was also awarded an honorary Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of England for services to the Royal College, followed by a professorship in Primary Dental Care. Mike is now course director of the MSc in Primary Dental Care at the University of Kent, and the Diploma in Restorative Dentistry and the Advanced Certificate in Aesthetic Dentistry at the Royal College of Surgeons.
Mike lives in Pulborough with his wife and recently became a grandfather.
